This was kind of a blah trip. Lots of clouds so only managed a couple glimpses of the mountain. Here it looks more like what I thought it should look like. I guess the kind of flat top wasn't visible from the airport.


When the visibility got better, there wasn't much to see.

HKGA to HKWJ, Garissa to Wajir, Kenya

Pretty boring today. It got really windy in one section so that gave me something to do since there wasn't anything to look at.


The only thing to see near the airport was a road and some poles.
101st leg: Saturday, July 30, 2005
HKWJ to HKMA, Wajir to Mandera, Kenya
Airport: Mandera
1.4 hours

Dull, dull, dull.
 

More poles and bushes. Decided to just stop to refuel and continue on, even though
I knew I would probably have to land in the dark next time.

102nd leg: Saturday, July 30, 2005
HKMA to HCMH, Mandera, Kenya to Hargeissa, Somalia
(spelled Hargeysa on a map I looked at)
Airport: Hargeissa

This flight was a little more scenic. For one thing, I flew at a higher altitude since I was heading for higher ground.
 

Flew over a town. Maybe Megwin or Degeh Bur in Ethiopia.

At least with it getting dark I could see the lights of Hargeissa/Hargeysa. You can sort of make them out here, right under the horizon. The airport was out in the sticks off to the right and.I might not have even noticed where the town was if I had landed in daylight.
