Leaving Zoueratt at dawn.

Kayes. That's the Senegal River.

From an encyclopedia site: Kayes[kAz], town (1993 est. pop. 50,000), W Mali, a port on the Senegal River. It is the administrative and commercial center for a region where peanuts and gum arabic are produced. The town has tanneries and livestock is raised. Kayes lies at the upper limit of navigation on the Senegal and is an important rail terminus..

 88th leg: Thursday, July 14, 2005
GAKD to GAKN, Kayes to Kolokani, Mali
Airport: Kolokani
1.9 hours

Turning around over Kayes.

There wasn't much of anything to see all the way there.

And nothing much there when I got there either.
89th leg: Friday, July 15, 2005
GAKN to DFOO, Kolokani, Mali to Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso
Airport: Bobo-Dioulasso
2.5 hours

There was a layer of overcast for most of the trip today.

At around 3300 feet I was above that layer but mostly under the cumulus clouds.

It cleared up before Bobo-Dioulassa. Not that there was much to see except for some trees and power lines.

Photos of Bobo-Dioulassa

90th leg: Saturday, July 16, 2005
DFOO to DNIL, Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso to Ilorin, Nigeria
Airport: Ilorin
5.1 hours

It mostly looked like this everywhere today.

When it didn't look like that, it looked like this.

Not much around but lots of other planes so there must be something here.
